Rep. Grayson: Republicans using debt ceiling as ‘legislative terrorism’

He said Republicans saw the debt ceiling as “a device to extract concessions they would otherwise never be able to accomplish.”

“That is why it is legislative terrorism,” Grayson continued. “They are using the debt ceiling as a means to cut Social Security benefits, cut Medicare benefits, cut unemployment insurance, cut anything of any use to any ordinary human being in this country simply because they want more money for tax cuts for the rich.”

He does have to be in office to get legislation passed, though, but I am not sure yet if that is his priority.

Kucinich was in office a lot longer and did not get legislation passed either, yet, for some reason, I did not think Kucinich's priority was grandstanding.

What made the difference for me? I have no explanation. Just a gut reaction that I cannot defend at all.

It should be completely clear to all Americans by now that Republicans serve only their wealthy masters.

Not the people they were elected to represent.

LEGISLATIVE TERRORISM!

Grayson has always been direct and told it like it is.

That's one reason why righties can't stand him.

It's going to be fun watching him make conservatives squirm as he calls them out from the house floor.

As far as I am aware, they are not actually killing civilians hoping to effect their desired economic policy.

So it was used it correctly

Savaging Medicare/Medicaid and defunding SS would certainly lead to quite a number of premature deaths.
How many people have died because of inadequate/non-existant health care?

Just because they're not pulling a trigger doesn't mean that they're not actively killing certain segments of the population.

There is a meaning in those words that goes far beyond a disagreement on political points of view or government policies. To use them in a policy debate instead of (or even in addition to) actually debating policies is a bit small-minded IMO.

that the word has multiple definitions. Disagree that it is even remotely applicable to any of this conversation. Kinda like a righty calling Obama a communist. Vitriol instead of meaningful conversation.
