2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHuge cojones! That's our President.
I think our President is showing a hell of a lot of courage in his current stands. Perhaps at his own risk, on more than one level.
Thank god this man won a second term - we are already seeing a more activist, stronger, less cowed presidency. He is a very brave man, who sticks with his principles.
We need to stand behind him strongly. I have already written to my congresspersons about gun control. This is what President Obama asked for in his gun control announcement this morning. We MUST have his back on this and be persistent to get the change we need!

Even Joe Scarbrorough is coming around... He's not as dumb as most Republicans. Maybe just more "strategic." Maybe he found his heart! Go tin man!

You were hoping for a Barbarian? An Emperor? A BAMF who comes in with both guns loaded and ready for a shootout?
That's hardly fucking appropriate, and hard to take seriously.

(1,495 posts)say he tried. By shoving everything to congress, he cant be blamed if congresss does not act. If the Dems in congress are smart, they will not roll everything into one package. The AWB, Clip limitation, and mandatory background checks will be seperate bills. I can 100% guarentee the AWB will die in commitee in the house. Harry Reid might allow it to come to the floor, but I think that would be for political purposes so red state dems can vote against it thereby giving them a weapon in 2014.
Mandatory background checks is the only thing I can see passing both houses.
