<clip>Pennsylvania voters disapprove of the job Republican Gov. Tom Corbett is doing, according to a poll of likely voters released early this morning.
Halfway through his term, Mr. Corbett received a negative grade in the latest Quinnipiac University poll. Voters disapprove of the way the governor is doing his job, 42 to 36 percent. It is a significant drop from a 40 to 38 percent approval rating Nov. 15.
"It's halftime in Gov. Tom Corbett's first term, and if he were running a football team instead of a state, he'd fire his offensive coordinator," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.<end clip>

I would rather see Mark Singel (as someone who has won statewide office previously as Lt. Governor) but we'll see.

We have not seen a one term governor in my 45 years.
Corbett CLEARLY is a candidate to break that streak.
He has A LOT of problems with republicans over PSU.
He was soft with some after the Marcelleous shale sell out, and some after the education cuts.
He also is not liked at all by the Rs in the Senate/House.
But, normally, come election time, Rs put that stuff behind them and play team ball.
But, he scewed up with the PSU situation.
Some from outside of the state might not know, but PSU is a pretty republican institution.
JoPa was a life long R who supported their policies, and most of the key pols in the area are Rs.
It is pretty intwined and the fan base is pretty "conservative" you can see it on their message boards.
As you know, but to explain to others, Corbett was AG prior to being governor, and flat refused to try to investigate/prosecute Sandusky. Everyone knows it, and they are starting to have some effort to push back on it, it is too obvious to deny.
As Governor, he had an automatic seat on the PSU BOTs. He sat silent and let the bomb blow up on them, then, by all reports drove their ham handed firing of JoPa. THEN, he piled on when the sanctions first hit, saying basically they got what they deserved.
Now, in the most cynical of political acts, he is going on like gang busters trying to grand stand to get the sanctions he initially said were justified overturned.
You can be a corporate shill sell out POS and that will probably help you with Rs more than hurt you.
But, be the man people believe drove the firing of JoPa?
That might just be enough for some Rs to actually make good on their statements that they will vote for the D.
DEPENDING ON THE D.
It is going to be interesting.
The Presidential election sucked the air out of this, but now we are going to see how much trouble he really is in, one way or another.

(7,939 posts)is reason enough to get rid of this hypocrite. So much for the promise to work for jobs for Pennsylvanians!
