Why DNA is not equal to fingerprints

So, you're arrested for a crime you did not commit because you were at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Fingerprints prove that you were there. They prove it was you.

DNA proves you were there as well.

But, DNA also allows the prosecuter to argue that you have 14 felons in the past 20 years in your bloodline.

DNA goes a lot deeper than just proving who you are.

Where is this going?

Is this more ultra-liberal anti-science jibberish?

Whatever gave you that idea? Perhaps you could elaborate?

edit: Oh, I presume you mean that DNA allows you to be associated with your family? But so do fingerprints, if your genealogy is known, and if it isn't then nothing that can be obtained by routine analysis of DNA will fill in the missing information in any sort of detail. Really, from a criminology perspective, it's hard to see how DNA might be realistically used for anything but establishing identity.

A certain group has an orientation session for new posters at DU trying to pretend to be liberal. Would you like me to put you in contact with them?

DNA can also prove that the skin cells under the fingernails of he murder victim belong to someone other than you.

DNA has been instrumental in the exoneration of wrongly convicted individuals almost everywhere.

And yes, I have journal entries.
