Notorious puritan and sex police Elliott Spitzer says he's not going to vote for Weiner

Asked by host Chris Matthews Monday on MSNBC’s “Hardball” who he would vote for in the mayoral election, Spitzer was hesitant to answer. Matthews pressed Spitzer, saying “You’re not going to vote for Anthony Weiner, can you just say that now? You don’t think he should be mayor of New York.”



"Fair point, that is correct,” Spitzer responded.

When asked if he'd fire a city employee who used taxpayer-funded, ahem, equipment for Weiner's past time, Spitzer said:

“I think the answer is yes,” Spitzer said. “We have had a number of instances over the years where inevitably, of course, municipal employees, state employees have used computers and the like for improper purposes and there is an appropriate sanction for that and there should be.”

Asked if that would include the mayor, Spitzer responded, “That’s right.”

1. I have defended Wiener often on this site

trust me you can look it up, but I wouldn't vote for him either. I happen to think that Quinn and Thompson would be better candidates than Wiener. I would vote for him if he won the primary.

2. Yeah, I'd vote for Weiner if I had to (general)

but no way in primary or run-off.

Even Christine Quinn would be better.
