Ted Cruz is historically ignorant.

He spoke on the Senate floor about Neville Chamberlain (who was a Conservative, by the way) seeking to appease Hitler "in 1940."

In 1940 Great Britain was at war with Germany, and nobody but a tiny sliver of English fascists were saying anything about appeasing Hitler. Cruz was obviously thinking about the Munich conference, but that was two years earlier.

I know it may seem like a small point, but getting details like this wrong is to me an indication of a shallow mind. You don't get up on the floor of the United States Senate and compare your opponents to appeasers of Nazism without first getting your facts straight.

More generally, I often find that those most willing to draw analogies between some feature of contemporary American politics and German Nazism are the most ignorant of the actual history.

He used that story to say "the people," like Sam, HATE the ACA, when the moral of the story is once Sam TRIED green eggs and ham he LIKED it.

ETA-maybe Cruz KNOWS the people (who he claims all hate the ACA) will LIKE it once they try it, which is why he doesn't want to let them TRY it.
