Related: About this forumObenshain votes. I smell a fraud rat
we were ahead after all the precincts were counted and now all of a sudden we are behind by 681 votes. something seems fishy here.

(570 posts)The results are being checked for errors and being adjusted. There is some question as to provisional votes as well.

(42,703 posts)I'm not in any claiming that tampering with votes never happens. Of course it does. But we do ourselves no benefit to yell "fraud" everytime a close race comes out against us, or everytime the vote counts change as the process of confirming the numbers is completed. Cry wolf enough time and no one will pay attention when there is an actual problem.
Everyone expected the Herrring/Obenshain race to be close. It will be some time before we know the outcome. We will look quite foolish if we yell fraud now, and the final outcome is in our favor.
Anyone remember Al Franken?

(1,127 posts)why is it that there are 30k more votes for gov than attorney general.
onenote
(42,703 posts)There usually is less information about the candidates. The focus is on the Gov. race. So some people, not feeling comfortable that they know enough about the candidates, don't cast a vote for anyone in the AG race.
The 30,000 vote differential between the gov. race and the AG race is completely in line with previous elections in Virginia:
2009: 30,507 more votes for Gov. than AG
2005: 40,528 more votes for Gov. than AG
2001: 41,940 more votes for Gov. than AG
