Andrew Sullivan: "I cannot see Romney winning this at this point....."

My take away? This is the Republican crack-up people have been predicting for years. Gingrich is on a roll. I think he can win this - and then lose this in a way that could change America history. That is a brief impression in one moment of time. But I cannot see Romney winning this at this point. They are just not into him, and he's an awful candidate.

"They are just not into him, and he's an awful candidate." That's been a problem from the beginning.

You see, he IS a terrible candidate, and is completely detached and unprincipled. He'd be a stand-in, and the right would smartly take away that an Obama term would be better for them than a Romney term.

I like it! If only 'old' Republican party, or something like it, could re-emerge, giving everyone 2 rational choices.
