Megyn Kelly advises McConnell: Stop fighting Obama in court and ‘try to impeach him!’

By David Edwards

Fox News host Megyn Kelly on Monday advised Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) that he had several “meaningful options” for dealing for President Barack Obama, including impeachment.

Kelly pointed to a recent Supreme Court case and told McConnell that the president’s use of recess appointments was just “one example of many” of “presidential overreach.”

“And the question is whether beyond this case, what is perceived by some as presidential overreach, really can be resolved, in your view, by the courts,” she said.

When McConnell didn’t bring up the issue of impeachment himself, Kelly rephrased her question.

“We’ve had lawyers, constitutional lawyers come on this show and say, OK, so when that happens, when you have a president who, in your view or the view of some, is out of control in terms of overreach, you as the lawmaker really have two meaningful options,” she said. “And the main one that has been used historically is, try to impeach him!”

“I mean, is that ever considered?” Kelly asked. “As opposed to running into the courts and trying to get them to do it?”

McConnell pointed out that defunding Obama’s legislation was a “less dramatic response,” but refused to directly address impeachment.

It's a pity she wasn't pressed to provide a list of charges beyond "He's a Democrat" and "He's black."

4. She really is stupid. Recess appointments have been made by every president for the last century.

Does John Roberts really want to be the one to slam the door shut on this practice. The GOP might one day regain control of the White House and they will want it to be business as usual once again, putting their foxes in charge of the hen house.

8. The main issue before the Court has little to do with the way the recess appointment power

was used in the past. It has to do with the use of the recess appointment power when the Senate is conducting pro forma sessions. And to the extent the decision on this particular issue slams the door shut on the exercise of the recess appointment power it will be in considerable part the result of a tactic developed by our side to stymie Bush's use of the power. Based on the transcript of the oral argument, it likely will be a one-sided decision against the President on the use of the recess appointment power while the Senate is conducting pro forma sessions; hopefully, however, a majority of the court will agree that the power applies not just to vacancies that first occur during a recess and extends to vacancies that occur while the Senate is in session but continue into a recess. Both results would be consistent with historical practice.

She's in it for the money and the power that FOX provides it's stable of propagandists.

Joseph Goebbles would be proud of her. Kelly not only helps manipulate and control the hate filled ideologues of the Tea Party political terrorists, she makes a hell of a lot of money doing it.

Her audience are not low information voters, a silly, politically correct term that implies that the members of terrorist right can be informed and educated, they can't. To believe otherwise is to exhibit a naiveté often expressed in DU posts.

Kelly's "stupidity" will follow her all the way to Cayman Island bank accounts. Her followers on FOX are mean spirited, frightened, angry, hate-filled racist brutes who can never be educated. Underestimating them by thinking they can be informed will only lead to a faster end of what little democracy remains in this country.

15. Recess appointments are now an impeachable offense?

From wikipedia:

According to the Congressional Research Service, President Ronald Reagan made 240 recess appointments, President George H. W. Bush made 77 recess appointments, President Bill Clinton made 139 recess appointments. President George W. Bush made 171 recess appointments, and as of January 5, 2012, President Barack Obama had made 32 recess appointments.

And from the Constitution:

The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.
