Hannity for public office?
By Bob Cusack

Sean Hannity’s threat this week to bolt New York is sparking speculation he will someday run for office.

A source who was on Hannity’s Fox News show last fall told The Hill that the conservative commentator mentioned the possibility — off camera — of running in Florida.

“He wasn’t joking,” the source said. “It was definitive, but he didn’t mention a specific office in Florida.”

Hannity on his radio show said that he “can’t wait” to leave New York in the wake of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D) remarks that extreme conservatives have “no place” in the Empire State.

Hannity, a native New Yorker, has repeatedly ripped the state’s tax rates. He said he would move to Texas or Florida, which don’t have state income taxes.

Unless his ratings continued to tank to the point where it would become an advantage. And of course, Hannity would need to gravitate to a state other than New York. Purple state Florida would not be a sure bet for him, since thousands of hours of Fox News footage would yield an abundance of devastating sound bytes revealing the man's true colors. And finally, he is not quick on his feet. Ever-scripted, Hannity tends to come off as robotic, spoon fed "facts", and is less than persuasive in the process. In an open political dialogue, such as off-the-cuff interviews or debates, we would see him fall flat on his face enroute to losing.
