AUSTIN A Republican candidate for railroad commissioner announced Thursday that he will step down from his oil and gas firm if elected to the Texas Railroad Commission, the state agency that regulates oil and gas, and put the company into a blind trust.
Ryan Sitton, co-founder and CEO of energy firm PinnacleAIS, told the San Antonio Express-News and Houston Chronicle in an April 2 article that there is no conflict of interest. Our company does zero work that is regulated by the Railroad Commission. Weve never had a contested case go before the commission. Weve never had any interaction with the Railroad Commission.
Sitton, who previously said he would keep an ownership stake in the company if elected and would not release a list of clients, said in a phone interview Thursday that he will not engage with the business after putting it into the blind trust.
Hopefully, this will make it crystal clear to everyone that there will be no conflict, Sitton said.
