(14,449 posts)He is incumbent which is always hard to get rid of. I hope we win this one. I wanted more Tea Party wins which makes it easier for us to win.

(13,466 posts)Last night on one of the Lexington stations the news anchors kept saying "would Kentuckians really be willing to give up the power that Mitch McConnell holds in Washington". They were pushing him as hard as any campaign commercial. I couldn't watch it.

(1,127 posts)Grimes is young and attractive, mitch is old and stale without any enthusiastic supporters.

(2,831 posts)I live in ky, you are seriously underestimating how ignorant most of the populace here REALLY are. mitch will paint alison as a obama cronie against coal, the bible and " TRYING TO CHANGE OUR WAY OF LIFE" and believe me, it works EVERY TIME

(32,017 posts)Personally, I am of the opinion that Alison Lundergan-Grimes can beat any turtle that the Republicans offer up, and if Mitch is the best turtle they have, they deserve to lose.
Of course, that's just my opinion.

(33,497 posts)I've seen over the years many such predictions on DU and a lot of times it goes the opposite way. I think KY is definitely one we can win, but as others have pointed out it will come down to GOTV. We need an excited base and so far 2014 is looking a lot like 2010. It seems like when Obama isn't on the ballot a lot of his base just sit it out. That said, KY gives us one of our best chances for a pick up.
