Halloween Nightmare for Hobby Lobby--for 2 months before the Mid Term election

Last edited Sun Jul 6, 2014, 02:57 PM - Edit history (2)

And what an opportunity SCOTUS has made for the opposition----we can use the months of September and October to protest at Hobby Lobby---substantially reducing their profits during one of their busiest seasons-and at the same time using the protests to GOTV. It won't take much, because business bottom line is thin, a reduction in gross of 10% could be enough to bring the Green's to give up and at the same time galvanize women to vote on November 4. I am a business person and it is beyond me how the owners of Hobby Lobby could pick a fight on women's issues when they are the majority of their customers.

I wonder what is more important to these children in adult bodies, money or their need to hate Women and everyone else who is not exactly like them.

90% of their employees, they're the absolute worst. Now we have corporations that were started and are majority owned by people who are likely prochoice starting to jump on the bandwagon by claiming sudden conversion to religion and stiffing their female workers.

All these assholes are doing is proving that first, women are not considered human by any stretch of the male corporate imagination, are not due equal treatment under the law by the highest court in the land, and that protection is now afforded only to corporations, not to human beings.

However, there won't be any sort of an outcry until men can't get their Viagra covered.

I still can't believe the GOP let's these things happen just before an election---I almost think they are on our side-----

We are toast by a long shot on this------we need to control the Congress and GOTV----we need to be able to appoint the next members of SCOTUS---I am glad you are fired up

... I think there are certain very conservative denominations that do believe such a thing -- and, like so many squeaky-wheel conservatives in recent years, they are exerting an influence on culture (in this case, traditional Halloween celebrations) well beyond their numbers.

(Of course, crime and safety have had an effect as well.)

one, as you suggest from forward thinking people, and then, rile up the anti-Halloween Christians as well.

Divide and conquer.

Who call Harry Potter evil. Surely you are aware of the Rushdooney types out there that used to give out Jesus juice pamphlets on Halloween in the 70's and 80's. They are total kill joys.

The wikipedia articles on All Saints Day and All Hallows' Eve give a lot of info on the history and evolution of the religious observance and the blending in of older non-Christian traditions.

Sorry, I'm on a Kindle right now and can't figure out how to copy the link here.

Maybe they object to the preponderance of secular/pagan stuff sort of taking over the religious event.
But then, my impression is that the sects complaining about it aren't the ones that normally observe All Saints Day anyway.

Single liberal women like halloween, I think. Around here they tend to go all out for months making their creative costumes and decorations. They should buy their stuff from the competition and mail the receipts to HL.

Punish them where it hurts, in the pocket book!
