Democracy's most dangerous enemy is an apathetic public

I heard that phrase back in the 60's and have seen it play out over and over again thru the years.
We saw it play out again last night.

1. a few months ago at work....

when one of the GOP's grand standing attempts to repeal Obamacare was in the news..... a woman I work with mentioned to me......
"I sure hope that Obamacare doesn't pass!"
I told her.."It already HAS passed" ...
She said "WHAT??? When did THAT happen?!!"
I said " Three years ago, where have YOU been?"
She said " Oh my GAWD!!!... We're SCREWED!!!"
I said "Yup, we sure are"
I thought about telling her we were screwed because of stupid uninformed voters like herself....but instead just chuckled to myself because I knew she would ever be able to understand.
