Rethugs Would Get The Blame For Another Government Shut Down

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/12/01/1348568/-Public-would-blame-Republicans-for-a-shutdown-again

snip:

As Republican congressional leadership struggles with a rabid caucus, as usual, bent on forcing a government shutdown, as usual, polling shows that the public would blame Republicans if government grinds to a halt, as usual.

I disagree. I think Teahaddists learned they can can shut down the government and then win control of Congress. I am not saying it's logical, but it's probably what they learned.

1. That IS the message we got since last election. Republicans are never held to account

because they have M$M to defend them in every which way. Had Democrats shut down the gov't, you can believe it that it would be prominently reported in/on every single media - from print to radio airwaves to commercials and "news" reporting - and that wouldn't exlcude so-called "liberal" MSNBC.

But since no social security was touched by the shutdown, older, whiter people gave Republicans a huge pass and they voted for more Shut-downers. Business that have suffered because of the shut-down hemmed and hawed for a couple of weeks, but when push came to shove, they happily voted and encouraged others to vote, for Republicans.

No wonder this country has been rated as the second most ignorant country in the developed world.

3. The big money behind(Koch Bros)the TeaBillies

want to shut things down,it's all about crashing the economy and the transfer of the remainder of private wealth to the 1% ers. If you think differently good luck. We are in a major wealth struggle that is waging in Europe Russia and South America. And in each of these areas, the Koch's and other Oil Barons are jacking things out of whack. If shutting down the U.S. Government helps these Suckers reach their goals,so be it. Remember Iraq=it was all about Oil. Doubt me,read the fine print in your Credit Card Boiler Plate language, notice the recapture provisions by the Bank. This applies to your Bank or Credit Union also. Interesting.

5. Clearly, Voters Don't Care

The last GOP shutdown was a BFD to me...however, the majority of Americans believe, evidently they prefer that type of governance.

So, it doesn't matter whether they do or not. They'll never be held accountable.

7. To be honest and frank, the Dems have done little to motivate voters to get to the polls.

2014 was the lowest turnout since WW2.

The only people excited to vote in 2014 was the tea-crazies and those of us who are terrified by the tea-crazies. For all the bizarre, horrible, illogical, and ill-informed the tea-crazies may be, they do inspire some people to get to the polls.

Democrats need to inspire people. Instead they run from their strengths and take zero pride in the party and what it stands for.

Had the Democrats made this election about race, gender, and opportunity, they would have wiped the floor with the Rethugs. They didn't. They stayed silent and let the Rethugs have all the mike time they wanted. They let the Rethugs define Democrats, which is never a good thing.

Many democrats and democratic leaning voters and left leaning voters and centrists were all left wondering "what have you done for me lately" and the answer the Democrats had was "nothing"

Sure the GOP has been gumming up the works, we all knew they would. Its on the Democratic party to expose that, ridicule that, and mitigate that. They did none of those things.

They looked weak, fractured, pathetic and self-centered. No wonder voters stayed home. I don't blame them. Democrats gave them no reason to go to the polls.

9. I'm starting to believe Dem Politicians

only call themselves "Democrats" because it has a "nicer ring" to it, than "republican" upon pronunciation.

10. Nothing new there.

Remember the Dixicrats. Dems who should have been conservative republicans when the Cons took over the Republican party post Civil War, but couldn't in the South. To be a Republican was to be Satan himself. So they voted against the Dem party for decades when the liberals, displaced from the Republicans moved over to the Democrats.

American political history has a long tradition of DINOs and RINOs.

6. The specifics matter

If they're able to pass a budget through both houses that the average voter finds acceptable... and the President vetoes it... then no, we would probably get the blame for the shutdown.

If, OTOH, they pass a budget with lots of "defund XYZ" attacks that they can't get through any other way... then they probably get blamed for any shutdown, even if the immediate cause is that the President vetoed a budget bill.

8. The way the GOP have acted since 09

I cant believe any one votes for these bums, they obviously cant govern, they have no problem shutting down government and evidently get rewarded for it., they can only criticize and obstruct the efforts of current admin and come up with no solutions of their own yet the people vote for them.
Either the majority of current electorate have lost their minds or the fix is in, i'd like to believe the latter.

12. The Media won't hold the GOP accountable for ANYTHING! But let a DEM so much as sneeze, and the

Media will be all over it 24/7, like white on rice.

The Media sold out long ago. The Media have been corrupted, and can no longer be trusted.

13. They will get blamed then they will get votes.

no one cares what the GOP does.
They could be feasting on babies and puppies and their huge stepford following would still vote them in.
Get used to it.
