Bridging the divide: what do you think of this idea?

Here it is short and sweet.

I would like to suggest that DU members make regular visits to a conservative blog like Townhall or Redstate. DU members could then offer a counter narrative to the conservative line from within one of their echo chambers. Reasoned debate supported by facts might just open some eyes. Yes there would be some name calling and other immature nonsense, but we could be the adults in the conversation.

We would just have to pick a particular blog and then pick a day to start visiting. We could coordinate and request support on threads here at DU.

Thoughts?

... especially if you are referring to the [mostly] right wing blog site by that name.

but there are so many of them that have already drank the Kool Aid that it is probably too late. I think that trolling them would be more fun. That was not a serious suggestion but a nice thought.

3. There is no consensus to be formed with the right wing. They are too far gone to Crazy Town.

Ask Obama about his 6 years of misguided "bridge building" with these lunatics. Obama f'ing give them national RomneyCare, and they go apoplectic!!! Obama kissed their asses for 6 years, and they want him dead. There is no middle ground to be had with these hardcore, extreme far rightwing reactionaries!!!

The problem is like Democrats like to argue about issues and base it on facts.

Like we might argue on the deficit and how to reduce it. Most of us would accept that the stimulus though we liked it did increase the deficit and debt. However Republicans do not really believe in facts and are skeptical of any objective data that violates their narrative.
It's impossible to discuss stuff with most of them.

You can't argue with another person with a sick mind ... OR You can't argue if YOU have a sick mind.

6. I gave up. I don't find it completely pointless, it is just that the stupidity hurts too much.

One has to be a braver and more patient soul than I.

I am not even a Democrat. I used to think I was pretty moderate, and then I found out I am further to the left than most Democratic politicians at the moment.

I find that sad.

7. I think a lot of DU members already do 'drive-by comments' and leave a voice of reason.

I also think some Ds have fun irritating baggers & other RW groups and the mostly republican hate groups. None of their message boards are as nice as DU and it's fun!

we're why fox main news sites don't allow comments anymore

8. Reasoned debate supported by facts

Means nothing to those that have their own "facts" spoon fed to them daily. These people do not wander away from the bubble.
What's really sick is all their info comes from " Entertainers" like Beck and slimebaugh. These assholes just make shit up knowing they will be believed.

I found about 1 winger in five worth reasonable enough to have a discussion with. It was just that the other 80% were soooooooo out there as to make the stupidity overwhelming. I was hoping with some allies I could make some inroads and develop a presence on one of the RW blog sites.

Also, many people just read and lurk with only the most extreme, energetic folks doing most of the posting. The lurkers are the people I would like to influence.

with non-active Democrats and "Independents" about why they don't vote. Personally, I don't want people who subscribe to right-wing ideology on the same side as me. Triangulation has been proven to be self-defeating.

We have a President who has squandered a good bit of his Presidency on the naive notion that he could "bridge the divide."
