http://www.politico.com/story/2015/06/poll-george-w-bush-popularity-obama-popularity-118576.html?ml=poIt is the first time in more than a decade that Americans have expressed a favorable view of Bush, at least according to a new CNN/ORC poll released Wednesday.
Bush is seen in a favorable light by 52 percent of those surveyed, compared with 43 percent who still view the 43rd president unfavorably. Americans are split on Obama, with 49 percent responding favorably and unfavorably.
The last time Bush polled in positive territory was in early April 2005, close to three months into his second term.

(17,656 posts)It's almost as if those idiots who view Dubya favorably now actually think WMDs were found in Iraq, and that the nation's economy didn't crater in 2007/2008, or that it wasn't Dubya's fault that millions of Americans lost their jobs in 2008 at a pace of 750,000 per month for nearly 8 months.
As far as I am concerned, all this proves is that propaganda machines like Faux Snooze, Rush Limbaugh, and the rightwing echo chamber on the radio airwaves have been very effective for far too long in this country.
This isn't just another example of the "dumbing down of America", because some of us know what happened during Dubya's time in office.
Instead, this is an example of outright denial of the facts by some people in this country; people who obviously aren't able to use their thinking faculties, at all!!
How people like that even dress themselves is beyond me.

(14,568 posts)but you are mostly spot on.
Yes, the right wing propoganda machine is even stronger today than ever. But, you have to have a lot of people who WANT to believe the bullshit when it has to be as thick as it has to be.
Bush II was a unmitigated disaster - fiscally, economically, and of course from a security standpoint and the jackasses taking the country into Iraq, a major disaster with the loss of lives of our troops and it being a money pit, but also further jacking an already jacked up middle east.
Barrack Obama has in fact been a pretty good president overall, and has dealt with the most oppositional congress in our history, one that has openly cheered and worked toward any negative outcome for the country of craven partisanship.
But, people have to WANT to believe what they spin about him.

(6,436 posts)Republicans and Fox News viewers are more likely to hold false beliefs about the president and the war in Iraq, according to a new poll.
In a Public Mind poll from Fairleigh Dickinson University released Wednesday, more than half of Republicans 51 percent and half of those who watch Fox News 52 percent say that they believe it to be definitely true or probably true that American forces found an active weapons of mass destruction program in Iraq.
Thirty-two percent of Democrats, 46 percent of independents, 41 percent of people who reported to watch CNN and 14 percent of MSNBC viewers answered similarly.
Overall, 42 percent still believe that troops discovered WMDs, a misleading factor in the decision to invade Iraq in 2003. It was later found that Iraq did have individual stockpiles of chemical weapons, but there was no active WMD program in the country.

(9,314 posts)It was mentioned during the coverage of Beau Biden's passing. I was surprised. That seems pretty high to me, but Bush* polling higher than President Obama seems impossible. That poll must have been rigged for Jeb's benefit.

(23 posts)If they got caught that would make them look bad and with all the journalists that have gotten into trouble in the last decade for either telling false stories or not physically being in a locale but they write they were I really doubt CNN would take a chance to rig a poll. The more logical conclusion would be that Bush is just seen in a more favorable light now that so many years have passed. Obamas favorability numbers will probably rise 6 years after hes out of office. Its the name of the game in politics and isn't anything new and happens to a lot of ex presidents regardless of the party. Since Bush is no longer in office I really don't care.
