BURLINGTON, Vt. These werent your everyday Americans who came out to support Bernie Sanders on Tuesday.
The self-described democratic socialist kicked off his long-shot run for the White House in his adopted hometown of Burlington, a lakeside city full of characters who might not have passed the pre-selection process for Hillary Clintons tour of round tables.

(9,600 posts)Politico always makes it seem as if Hillary Clinton is doing some dishonest scheme. Politico only attacks with their reporting Democratic candidates this way.

(28,627 posts)Politico turns nasty. They only thought Bernie would be a nuisance for Hillary but now they are seeing that he is well thought of among some GOP voters and independents.

(9,600 posts)A fair article with substance might inform their readership. Many of Politico readers just might like Bernie Sander's message if Politico did not mute it with its "sideline" commentary.

Politico is right-wing GOP bullshit, IMO.
I try to never use Politico as a source, if I can help it.

(27,820 posts)I occasionally use Politico as a source myself; but I always include a caveat such as:
"I apologize for using Politico as a source; but this story wasn't covered by any other news source"
I love how Politico writer Jonathan Topaz worded the "People's Republic of Burlington" bit.
"a city now 'commonly referred to' as the People's Republic of Burlington.
"commonly referred to" by WHO?... Republicans? Neo-cons like Karl Rove & the Koch brothers?
The Blaze? Rense.com? Limbaugh? Fox News?
I seriously doubt that the citizens of Burlington refer to themselves as:
"The People's Republic of Burlington"
I also doubt that any major news news organizations use that term, (except for Faux News)
For decades now, right-wingers often refer to Berkeley, Ca. as "The People's Republic of Berkeley"
