A Quick Guide to the GOPs WAR ON WOMEN

What is the GOP 'War on Women'? The 'War on Women' is an unprecedented attempt by the Republican Party to roll-back women's rights on a host of critical issues. These issues include equal pay, intrusive medical procedures, access to women's health resources, abortion access, and laws protecting women from violence...and the list goes on.

You may ask 'why' or 'why now'? Why is the GOP taking such extraordinary efforts on so many fronts to roll back the progress of the past 100 years?

The answer to the question 'why' is straight-forward - it is in their nature. Have you ever heard the story of the frog that took the scorpion across the river only to get stung half way through the journey? What was the scorpions response - 'it is in my nature'. The Republican party of the past century has opposed extending rights to women, gay and lesbians, minorities - everyone actually. They have also always opposed any social safety nets, such as Social Security and Medicare - two programs that have done more to transform the American experience (for the better) than any others. Their nature is to protect middle aged white men and corporations - full stop.

The answer to 'why now' is to consolidate support in there own base of 'those who think that a woman's place is in the kitchen'. This includes evangelicals, middle-aged white guys with low self-esteem (I am looking at you Rush Limbaugh) and just run of the mill bigots. This Blitzkrieg on women's rights sends a very clear message to both of these groups - we are your party.

All the GOP means by "no big government" is "let us be crooks".
