"Bill Maher Calls Out Republicans for Being the Dicks That They Are"

Jason Easley
June 23, 2012

=snip=

Republicans have devolved into being as selfish as possible. Their whole thought process seems to be centered on the assumption that if it is good for other people, it has to be bad for them. There is no real ideology behind their actions. Selfishness has become their ideology. They are a collective group of toddlers pointing at everything and screaming mine, mine, mine at the top of their lungs. They have devolved from mature conservative thought to the miseducated adolescent homeschoolers that they are at heart.

They do make the occasional good documentary. But most of the programming is just plain terrible and not worth the money.

and to watch the occasional boxing match. Yes, not a very progressive thing to watch, but it reminds me of watching boxing with my grandfather (former golden gloves)

that I've ever read. Maher is right - they really don't have an actual ideology; they are just a bunch of asshole 14-year-olds being as dickish as possible, just because they can. I don't always agree with Maher but he's spot on this time.

The GOP is basically the middle-school brats who picked on the bus lady, just to be mean.

I think, honestly, they belong in a booby-hatch (as Thurber would say) because they're lying, amoral, sadists whose agenda is to decimate our country. They actually appear to get off on destroying everything good about the US. That's pretty sick stuff. Those sociopaths aren't Americans. Not in my book.

Believe me, big Maher fan here.. I saw his stand up show in South Bend last fall.

The polarization (us calling the conservatives dicks and them call us dicks) is
pointless, and a waste of time. it's devolved into Orwell's "Two Minutes Hate"
where every day the proles are required to scream obscenities at the image
of "the enemy" projected on a screen.

In our case, the image is Rmoney (occasionally bush)-- on the other side, they
are projecting Obama's image. Now there's an "artist" out there with a painting
depicting Obama burning the Constitution. He's selling his "paintings" for
six figure sums.

the number of DU'ers that dislike Maher so intensely.
In all the years I've been a huge fan he has been one
of the most outspoken supporters of Democratic policies
and campaigns.

I spent a number of years posting on his HBO message board.
It was the best political site on the internet until it was
decided it was controversial and replaced with whatever crappy
forum they have now.

Republicans fear Maher. They can't touch him and know how influential
he is with Independents. Maher does more to bring Independents over to
Democratic policies than anyone else out there. He knows his stuff when
interviewing Republicans and rarely lets them push their bullshit talking points.
