Republicans Introduce "The Repeal of Obamacare Act"

They're apparently planning to waste our country's time to pass a bill that, aside from being DOA in the Senate and WH anyway, wouldn't even be legally valid. They've referred to ACA as "Obamacare" that they think that that is the actual name of the law!

(35,309 posts)There's also no "ACA" or "Affordable Care Act."
We can refer to the act as the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" but that's only part of it.
It has to be read with the "Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010.
Call it Gus if you want to.

(22,000 posts)It's like the fucking Twilight Zone with them. Too bad we can't turn back the clock and get rid of them.

(42,703 posts)The Senate will block the repeal of the ACA, which is a good thing. This OP, on the other hand, is just silly. The titles and headings in legislation are not legally relevant; what is legally relevant is the text of the legislation. And the text of the Repeal of Obamacare Act (which the author of the OP apparently hasn't read) would clearly repeal specific legislative enactments, identified as Public Law 111-148 and Public Law 111-152.
The notion that such a law would not be legally valid if enacted is obviously wrong and shouldn't be repeated. Fortunately, the repeal act isn't going to become law, which is the important thing.

(24,412 posts)Of course, it's likely a propaganda move by the Repubs. They know that "Obamacare" already has a negative taint to it but they couldn't easily get away with telling people they plan on repealing the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act".
BTW thanks for your constructive feedback for my OP.
