Portman Admits to Meetings with Romney Staff

Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH) told ABC News that he had lengthy meetings with some of Mitt Romney's top advisers, including Beth Myers, who is coordinating the vice presidential vetting process.

Said Portman: "You know, I talk to those guys all the time on how things are going in Ohio and what the message ought to be back home in Ohio, so, it was a good-good day, we had six meetings in about six hours, so it was busy."

My personal feeling is that Portman will be the VP nominee. We'll see probably in about six weeks.

he is a bit like President Obama in his "no drama" approach.

I have always felt it would be the most conventional pick from Ohio or maybe Virginia or another "swing" state.

Portmann seems to have less negatives than the lunatic running Virginia.

Portman has been the most likely V.P. choice for months.

I remember back in March talking to a political reporter for the L.A. Times who said Portman was the name he kept hearing the most from Republican insiders.
