2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIn essence Romney calls AA leaders cowards.
The oafish pedantic boorish Romney continues to run a campaign that is so attenuated to reality that it is attached to it by a thread that is too fine to use for dental floss.
Having been openly spurned by the NAACP for bashing the federal version of his own state version of comprehensive medical coverage he reuses the old "they love me in private" line that is an obvious fabrication.
Here from TPM
After his speech to the NAACP national convention Wednesday, Romney said he connected with black leaders in private and was assured that the loud and sustained booing he got for promising to repeal the health care reform law didnt represent the feelings of all African American voters, even if they cant say so in public.
I spoke with a number of African-American leaders after the event and they said, you know, a lot of folks do not want to say they will not vote for President Obama but they are disappointed in his lack of policies to improve the schools, Romney told Fox, according to a rush transcript. The president has not been able to get the job done and people want to see someone would can get the economy going so I expect to get the African American votes, and at the end of my speech having a standing ovation was generous and hospitable and I believe we disagree on some issues like Obamacare on a lot of issues people see eye to eye, they want someone getting the economy going.
Polls show Romney has made no inroads with the African American electorate. Hes pulling single-digit support among black voters in the PollTracker Average. But by Romneys account, its possible black voters are simply afraid to tell pollsters their real feelings.
Romney, like most congenital liars, falls in love with his own statements and doesn't realize what the conclusions of his statements would be, if they were true.
The true meaning of Romney's words are 1) that the leaders are cowards, unable to stand up and express their own opinions and 2) that the followers of these cowardly leaders are too stupid to know what is good for them.
I did not think it possible for the President to achieve more than 92% of the African American electorate.
If Romney continues his patronizing deranged prattle aimed at AA voters you could end up counting AA Romney voters on your fingers.
Oh by the way Mitt. I talked with numerous Mormons including many Mormon leaders and members of the Romney family who are mortified with embarrassment by your vacuous campaign rhetoric that is filled with lies and and appeals to fear, I will show you my list when you show me yours.

He apparently brought his own black entourage to pretend he's got a chunk of the AA vote.

(3,888 posts)1. what romney says is, of course, laughable but
i can't help but get the feeling that we are being set up for another stolen election.
the polls say one thing and the voter results say another. the pattern is beginning to be recognizable.

How can elections just keep getting stolen in America?
If something like that happens again, America's electoral system will be no bette than that of a 3rd-world country's.

As if they were too stupid to understand just how brilliant he thinks he is.
He might as well have just showed up and did his speech in blackface.
He's finished.
