(6,409 posts)I certainly hope the citizens can embrace a progressive politician. It hasn't happened since the 1890s and early 1900s, but now could be the time. If not now, when? Never? Not good enough.

Hell, both establishment candidates are getting destroyed because muckety-mucks from neither party understand just how angry the American electorate is.

(62,325 posts)Either they continue to lose elections, which they are doing, Dems I mean or they start listening to the people.
But one thing is certain, things are changing and those in power are getting desperate as they begin to see that the people are waking up to their games. How it will all turn out is up to the people now.
We either tell them 'well, if we don't get what we want, we'll go along with you AGAIN' OR we let them know now, that this isn't going to happen this time.

(928 posts)My grandson's (15) history class is discussing the candidates. The teacher doesn't allow them to talk crap (i.e.Donald Trump's hair) they only discuss policy and each candidates platform. Each candidate was given 1 day of discussion. When they got to Bernie they needed a second day. The whole class was participating and active. My grandson said it was really positive discussion where other candidates on the republican side not so much.
Which is really impressive considering he lives in a VERY red area.

Bernie appeals to young people because he doesn't pander to anyone, including them, he simply tells the truth.

Go Bernie!
