Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Thursday night once again declined to take a position on whether the controversial Keystone XL pipeline should be approved, putting the onus on the White House to make a decision about it.
When asked about the pipeline at a town hall in Concord, New Hampshire, Clinton laughed and said the pipeline is "one of my favorite topics."
"I have been waiting for the administration to make a decision. I thought I owed them that," she said.
Clinton noted that as President Obama's first secretary of state, she "started the process" of reviewing the pipeline project -- a process that is "supposed to lead to a decision."
"I am putting the White House on notice," she continued. "I'm going to tell you what I think soon."

(23,664 posts)The price of oil is in the dumper and there won't be any big rush to build the stupid pipeline. He ought to just sit tight and let her stew about it, because he doesn't owe her jack shit.
Or he could just yank the rug out from under her and deny the application, and force her to either disagree with his decision or piss off a lot of Democratic primary voters.
But I'm guessing he and Kerry are happy to just let her twist slowly slowly in the wind, because she has gotten way too full of herself.

He isn't running for anything and he doesn't have to kiss anyones ass. He can do the right thing without being concerned about Hillary Clinton or anybody else. And as long as he doesn't decide, the pipeline won't get built.
She wants him to give her cover, but theres no benefit to him to do that.

(56,582 posts)I get that this has been an organizing gold mine, but the actual policy issue is kind of murky. Shortening the pipeline is at least in principle a good idea, particularly since the rail transport it would replace is less safe.
