Romney's Anchor

Charlie Cook: "What seems to be holding Romney back are voters' personal feelings toward him, which are more negative than those faced by any of the past six nonincumbent nominees... In my judgment, Romney's poor numbers go back to his campaign's obsession with talking only about the economy and not attempting to define who Romney is as a person, as a way to build trust and strong positive personal feelings toward their candidate. The Romney camp has yet to run what I would call a personal-positive ad, a biographical or values-based commercial portraying him as the kind of person whom people might want to vote for, someone with values that they would want to see in the Oval Office."

First Read: "But chew on this: Romney has been actively running for the White House for six years now... If you look at the fundamentals of this race, Romney should be ahead. And the fact is, he's not. Why not? Because he has fumbled his biography."

that "fumbling his biography" is the ONLY (or primary) reason he is not ahead. Maybe the fact that he is "fumbling" such a seeming simple thing as his own "biography" or can't even manage a simple trip overseas demonstrates that he is too incompetent to be POTUS? Not to mention, people don't support what he (claims to) support- though I suspect that he's running an extremely vague campaign short on details in order to prevent people from learning too much about what he supports and would sign into law if elected POTUS. It's going to come out eventually (i.e. during the debates) and that's when IMHO you'll start to see his support collapse beyond repair.

the fact is, that throughout the primaries, wherever Mitt went, his "positives" dropped.

I can't recall a single event in which his positives improved after he left, 1%-er fund raisers excepted.

He hasn't "fumbled" his biography, he's let too much of it leak.

I mean sometimes people are just totally unlikable, and creepy. Romney is unlikable and creepy. And people have picked up on that.

Ann's BS comment about "oh people need to unzip Mitt, because he's really funny" and those supposed feel-good stories from his kids, that turned out making him look like the pompous bully he is.

Bush was a disaster for the Country. He was crooked, and he ruined millions of lives for the oil and defense industry. BUT.. people liked the guy. You had a feeling that he would be okay to have a beer with.

Romney has put himself out there perpetually, and no one likes him yet. He did the olympics (which was probably a hand out to the Mormon Church, basically,) and had his OWN face on the Olympics pins... not the mascot.. People have seen him arguing with strangers, accosting reporters, and acting like a jerk at the debates.

To know him is to hate him.
