So how did Romney manage to screw up Poland?

Even HE knew better than to tell Polish jokes and use the term Polack right? Or did he???

On NPR it was mentioned that he went there because he considers them to be a minority vote. Should be a Polish joke in there somewhere.

When Carter visited Poland, he was assigned an interpreter who didn't know the language well enough and used archaic terms and even got mixed up with Russian terms. When Carter said he looked forward to getting to know the Polish people, his interpreted translated it into Polish as "I desire the Poles carnally." Actually, I believe it was worse than that but that was the polite way it was mentioned in the newspapers.

is that they are probably trained to translate for someone that speaks clearly. Carter does not. That makes the job more difficult.
