The Ellen DeGeneres Show has booked Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders for its broadcast on Thursday October 15. Its a bit of a booking coup, being the first TV talk show appearance his camp has booked so far to follow CNNs first Dem debate on Tuesday, October 13. The dancing should be interesting.
The interview could be challenging for DeGeneres, having already had Sanders Dem rival Hillary Clinton as her guest on the show, during which DeGeneres declared Clinton, the smartest and most qualified person for this job.
It also could be challenging for Sanders who already has launched his talk-TV guesting circuit in late night, including appearances on NBCs Late Night With Seth Meyers, and CBSs The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. But, Sanders tends to dodge get-to-know-the-other-you moments, like playing a bartender on Saturday Night Live, pancake town halls (See Hillary Clinton Saturday Through Monday). On Late Show, for instance, Sanders stuck to talking about his platform because, he explained to Colbert, 20-40% of people still did not know who he is or for what hes fighting: This is the wealthiest country in the history of the world, and yet all of the income and wealth is going to the top 1% and people do not feel good about that, he said somberly.

(10,237 posts)Bernie isn't entertaining he is an educator and problem solver although he could probably be a kick ass entertainer if he wasn't so concerned with helping Americans out of this slump .

(62,325 posts)seriousness. They had a lot of fun. I loved when Seth buried the talking point re Bernie's 40 yr old college text that was deliberately misinterpreted.
'Did you ever regret not going the 'Shades of Grey' route, after Bernie admitted it was very badly written. Looks like it took Bernie and the audience by surprise and he threw his head back and laughed 'no, no I haven't!
'
And that was the end of that particular talking point.
