(149,699 posts)You mean, some things are too much for the Republicans to handle?
How about that.
There might be a limit to how much hypocrisy even they can take.

It is the primaries where he has to go far right in order to win.
Once he's the nominee, he can swing back to the middle. Picking Rubio would be a brilliant move. It'll all but lock up FL. And Rubio standing next to Biden could help Republicans with the "outsider" claim. Americans are incredibly stupid people. They seem to like pretty people who spew clever catch phrases and one-liners.
If the Gore-Bush/Kerry-Bush debates taught us anything, it's not to "misunderestimate" the intelligence of the American mind.

(3,166 posts)I know he won his senate race handily, but that was because Crist and Meeks split the vote....Rubio has NOTHING in common w/about 98% of Hispanic voters.....Having a female on the ticket did nothing for Mondale and McCain, and i don't think having Rubio on their ticket will do anything for the Hispanic vote....

(24,437 posts)should it ever surface and make it seem "historical"- Can't you see the headlines now: The Republicans have nominated the first ever Hispanic VPOTUS!" Yeah, it wouldn't mean much to us but where Republicans suck on policy, they excel in "symbolism". Still, the birthers and anti-immigrants festering in the GOP might not be happy about it though. After all, the very mention of any kind of immigration reform is enough to get the right-wingers screaming "amnesty!" and making them mad as hornets.
