Hillary says it is time to elect a woman. What if Bernie says it is time to elect

a Jew?

This is purely speculate but how would you react?

Hillary, three time during the debate, forcibly presented herself as a female candidate. A woman who and we, as an electorate, should consider her gender when voting for her.

There is a lot of empathy for that position.

How much empathy would there be for Bernie if he pulled the Jew card?

when voting for a candidate.

"The first" (fill in the blank) will happen when the right candidate comes along at the right time and should not be used as a reason to 'vote for me.'

I was surprised to hear Hillary use that line of thinking during the debate.

and whether we look at ANY person based on their gender, race, religion in our everyday lives.

If you vote for a candidate based on their gender, as Clinton suggested during the debate, then there is probably some portion of that view that translates to how you interact with all people each day.

Obama won because he was the better candidate, not because he's black. If Sanders wins, it's because he's the better candidate, not because he's Jewish. Only Camp Weathervane is playing the identity politics card...looks like an admission she's not the better candidate.

Voting for the best candidate is what we should be doing. I've said time and time again that I voted for President Obama four times (in both primaries and general elections) because of his political ideas and beliefs.

My vote for Sanders has nothing to do with race, religion, etc. I believe he is the best candidate.

and they werne't trying to say people should vote for him just because he is black.

but my point is that having more people in your group makes it easier to say it without offending too many others.

that the people taking part in this discourse, much like they did in the Bush days of 2005, the Clinton vs. Obama people, would cheer on their candidate eating a baby on national news.

I'll say this, though: I don't have to get paid to support my candidate. Everywhere I go - dry cleaning line, waiting for my Taco Bell order, getting my oil changed - I talk about Bernie. I do it because I believe sincerely that he is the leader we need.

2016 is going to be a rude awakening for a lot of folks.

that I honestly care FAR more about than the candidates' gender or nominal religion.

I want single payer healthcare and the payroll tax cap removed on Social Security.

I want the $2 trillion in untaxed profits held offshore taxed.

I want Glass Steagall reinstated.

I want a jobs program to fix our crumbling infrastructure.

I want us to take aggressive leadership to address global warming.

I want to see minimum wage go to $15/hr and paid family/medical leave.

I'd like to see unions get much more support.

We need to deprivatize prisons and reform our justice system; end the war on drugs.

We need to get rid of these 'free trade' acts that have cost millions of jobs.

Those are the things I care about, among others. Religion and gender of the candidates, not so much.

would be a big deal, Jews have been over represented in our elected bodies and least in the modern era, while women have been vastly under represented. Jews, who make up 2.2 percent of the population make up 11 percent of the Senate. Women, who make up just over 50 percent of the population make up 20 percent of the Senate. Historically, there have only been 44 female Senators while there have been 35 Jews. It isn't even remotely in the same league. The first Jewish Senator was elected in the 1845 or 75 years before women could even vote.

Too bad we don't have a Jewish woman in the race. Where is Barbara Boxer when we need her?
