P.S. Please don't shoot me. I am only the messenger. As I have said. ad infinitum and ad nauseum , it is my considered opinion all our candidates acquitted themselves with aplomb and struck a vivid contrast with their Republican opponents.

(99,710 posts)I am not disputing Bernie is incredibly popular on the net and in social media. It's his wheelhouse.

(2,100 posts)Thought it was pretty obvious which may say something about a lot of Sanders supporters given that you thought I was serious.

(30,481 posts)It was not a lightweight debate and there were plenty of opportunities for major mistakes. I actually loved Chafees opening remarks. Sanders did better than I ever expected. Hillary meet the unrealistic expectations that were put on her. While I thought she was going to do well, she actually beat the unrealistic expectations placed on her, in my opinion.
The party won the night. There were many new eyes watching the debate and they saw a great one. We have great choices.

Are you sure you want to go with that as your official response?
Because that will reveal a lot about you and similar Sanders supporters.

(9,494 posts)That's worked so well with People of Color. Now you are telling everyone that they are too uninformed and easily led to formulate their own opinions! People getting their information from various sources are political zombies. Only Bernie Supporters in their little internet echo chambers know the real truth.
That should work as well for you as your African American "outreach"

(10,007 posts)There's a reason all the pundits fell over themselves to gush over Hillary's performance - their bosses know that most people don't think for themselves, and simply regurgitate what the 'experts' say.

(1,976 posts)then people saw what they saw. I don't understand how people are still taking Hillary at her word at this point, but if the Dems go for Hillary then we have not hit bottom yet. Things are going to have to get worse (perhaps much worse) before they get better.

Do we still live in a country where corporate media can just strongly declare who won and that the race is over, and everybody falls in to line behind the narrative?
Can "Hillary trounced everybody!" followed by some attack stories on Sanders followed by some widely proclaimed poll results reflecting the media's echo chamber proclamations among those who did not actually watch the debate still work just like the Dean scream?
Is that still enough to change the narrative? Is that still enough to sway people that they actually prefer oligarchy as usual, despite their better judgment on the issues themselves?
Stay tuned for the answer after the commercial break ...

(9,289 posts)But many people wouldn't notice that. I am glad that so many voters don't trust her. I hope that number grows. I think the more informed democratic voters get, the more will flock to Sanders. This is not to say that reasonable people can't disagree. It's just that Sanders' record is so much better than Clinton's in so many respects that he can only be helped by greater exposure.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)I must respectfully demur from your assessment and state emphatically that Hillary Clinton acquitted herself admirably, performed with great verve, and exhibited the je ne sais quoi that will propel her to the presidency.
That being said, hopefully we are all on the same team and can also praise all our candidates for a job well done.
Vattel
(9,289 posts)But she was dishonest more than once, and in my opinion she didn't do well on foreign policy. I have to say, though, the other candidates did not do a very good job attacking her on her hawkish foreign policy record. Maybe the next debate they will be better prepared to do so.

(441 posts)or were they influenced by the media to believe she won the debate? There is a poll that shows Bernie won the debate with people who actually watched the debate:

You can see the "For 13.1" which I assume means it was a sub-question of 13. Note the N was 283 which is the number of respondents who said they saw the debate.
