2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumALERT! Warships and attack planes from Denmark spotted near the North American Coast!
They are said to be loaded with crappy furniture and crushing taxes to undermine the American Way.
Comrade Sanders has been notified, and is prepared to lead the Socialist Barbarian Hordes into battle.
That is all.

(19,877 posts)Bernie himself points to Denmark, over and over and over again, yet some here are acting like this is some fabricated smear. Perhaps he should explain better.

(16,184 posts)There are completely legitimate questions about how one would go about implementing the social and fiscal policies of a country with half the population of New York City in a country of 320 million, but apparently we have to throw a ridiculous strawman tantrum beforehand.

(62,325 posts)the temper tantrums will be paid for and they will keep coming. And we will continue to have fun with them.
Let them keep on throwing their silly tantrums, let them waste all that corporate money on their latest smear attempts and they will continue to be frustrated, wondering why they aren't working.

(17,505 posts)"implementing the social and fiscal policies of a country with half the population of New York City " is now the same a 'Could learn a lot"?
Now...who's having a tantrum?
Armstead
(47,803 posts)The snark is because Denmark is suddenly touted as the Evil Empire. Strange how some Democrats are starting to sound like Republicans. No way in Hades would his election mean that suddenly he's going to unilaterally raise everybody's taxes through the roof.
Sanders said we could learn from them. And we should certainly look at what they have done successfully and see how we might tailor it to the US..Same with many other countries.

(1,300 posts)Otherwise some pretty creepy stuff. Mere inability to make distinction between home of IKEA, assumed slur target on furniture, i.e. Sweden, and Denmark is pretty telling. In my mind, has to be intended as slightly lazy humor/sarcasm in the mind of OPer.
And meanwhile, what a refreshing change from "USA, USA, USA!" We here I suspect are pretty united in understanding that we could learn a lot and have a lot to learn from other countries. Even small ones. Many with a much longer history including a lot fewer wars and less chest-beating over "patriotism."
Meanwhile, as long as we are mixing Scandinavians, where do I find me some good old fashioned Surströmming here at home? I've never tried it and understand that you never open a can indoors because the stench is amazing. I am coming around to trying it, but not prepared to go to Sweden on that account!
