Many GOP voters on board with impeaching Hillary Clinton

Many GOP voters on board with impeaching Hillary Clinton
Steve Benen
MSNBC

It was just two weeks ago that Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) raised the prospect of impeaching Hillary Clinton, even though she hasn’t been elected. The far-right congressman is apparently so concerned about her email server management that he believes she would, literally on her inauguration day, be “subject to impeachment because she has committed high crimes and misdemeanors.”

Soon after, the Alabama Republican talked to MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki about his intentions, and Brooks seemed quite sincere about impeaching Clinton, despite the fact that she hasn’t, in reality, even been accused of breaking any laws.

And while this is obviously just one unhappy congressman, Public Policy Polling asked North Carolina Republicans for their thoughts on the matter.

If Hillary Clinton is elected President, would you support or oppose impeaching her the day she takes office?

* Support impeaching Hillary Clinton the day she takes office: 66%
* Oppose impeaching Hillary Clinton the day she takes office: 24%
* Not sure: 10%

That was FDR's quote against economic royalists. I'd be cautious about applying that in the context of Mrs. Clinton.

We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace--business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.

They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.

Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me--and I welcome their hatred.

Now, if you have something about ignorant rightwing nut jobs, fire away. Cause I have no words for it.

The teahaddists would do that to Bernie too and he would fold like a cheap suit.

Hillary has been fighting these scum thugs for decades and they are scared shitless of her becoming POTUS!

They hope and pray Bernie gets the nod because they could hobble him in a week or two.

They like to impeach presidents. OK, they're not very good at it, but maybe they just need more practice. They have no hope of ever being real public servants, so what does that leave them? Impeachment.

History is very clear on this. Go after her in a foolish manner and she comes out stronger and with more political clout. She will be able to accomplish even more.

I love the hatred many of the republicans have for her. People here promote that centrists fear Sanders. It's an absolute fucking joke. They do it in a manner they wear as a badge of courage. Yet here we have Clinton who is hated by the right, not the big bad "centrists," and these same fools try to spin it as a negative. Republicans understand the clout Clinton brings with her. They stand united in their fear. That is fear people.

This is why Republicans in the debates mention her, over and over and over...

There is no other scenario they will bother with.

had it out for the Clintons; bills presidency, HRC in the senate and as SOS. It's hard for me to believe that she will be able to get anything done--I see the obstruction being way worse than that of Obamas terms. She is an incredibly divisive figure.
