While you may be giving up your age group by saying so, that describes my attitude after the recent news.

(22,142 posts)Hillary and Bill at the first inaugural ball. Also, how proud I was that she was taking an active role as a First Lady. I remember all of the crap the GOP said and tried to do to her throughout the years. There is no stopping her this time.

(146,288 posts)I know several millennials who are solidly in Hillary's camp, too. They're excited about her. From what you read here on DU, you'd think that there are no millennials who support her. Clearly that is not true.

(9,494 posts)so I'm really stoked! I think the grumpy Bernie supporters on line are a small percentage of voters and they won't get much attention when their candidate endorses Hillary Clinton for POTUS.

(6,280 posts)I still have the original 1992 Arkansas Democrat newspaper. Headline? CLINTON WINS! Think I'll be adding a second one soon. Jeez, it's gonna get rough, you know, maintaining, and cataloguing the long line of the Clinton "Dynasty"

(146,288 posts)I worked hard to help McCollum win two elections. She's a great rep. I've met her several times, but have no official connection with her at all. Whenever we're in the same place, she's always nice enough to chat with me for a while. We get along, and share most of the same positions.

Hillary will win the nomination in a cakewalk and the whole party will unite behind her and then...
We are going to kick republican ass up one side of the country and down the other in the GE!
Man I can't wait! The teahaddists are scared out of their minds about facing Hillary Clinton in the GE!

Not.

wallstreet = stoked?
war = stoked?
corporate control = stoked?
someone please tell me what there is to be "stoked" about? That you can say "I won I won I won"?

(5,668 posts)bleh... if Bernie doesn't get it. Hillary makes several Republicans look Liberal , country is center left now and they think a Center Right will win? Maybe but it'll just kill the Democratic party....

(449 posts)I've got many reasons, but it seems like most camps are firmly entrenched in their beliefs. If Hillary is the nominee I probably won't be voting next election cycle in protest. Shame? Yeah, but Hillary does NOTHING for me on any level. I'm sorry. I think the only reason I could vote for Hillary would be for Supreme Court Justice picks... But she's so terribly phony to me.
Sorry.

(38,454 posts)for the Democratic nominee?
PoliticalMalcontent
(449 posts)When it comes down to what Sanders says vs what Hillary says Sanders seems to say all the things that appease the liberal in me. I take issue with some of Hillary's positions.
Frankly, her habit of developing an accent depending on her location comes off as inauthentic and pandering. I'd rather she make the election about issues rather than 'folksy charm'.
I don't want to vote for a candidate that has made a career of taking money from all sorts of big money corporate donors (banks and fossil fuel companies included).
There are more reasons, but you know, it's not going to be popular. If I did vote for her it'd be strictly to support the Supreme Court.
(Edit to say: I joined to have a voice. I am passionate about politics and I think people take a closer look at Ms. Clinton closer before nominating her. People are treating this as if it's a done deal. There's 90ish days until Iowa. Let's not get too hasty now.)

(47,144 posts)I would ask you to think about it before tossing your vote in the trash. Seriously. Also, you might want to check out the recent GOP debate.

(449 posts)Thank you for the read. I'm sure I'd have more in common with Hillary than with any Republican candidate. Most of them are anti-science, anti-compassion, and can't be reasoned with. I'd probably come to my senses before the election comes around, but the fact that I'm even considering not coming around to vote should speak for itself. I don't know that I could feel good about voting for Clinton. She's got time to change my mind, but it's going to be an uphill battle.
What would change if Clinton was elected? Would it be meaningful change? Would it be the change I'm looking for. For some background, I'm actually pretty satisfied with the job Obama has done in office, minus a few things. The GOP has really mucked things up in the house and Democrats didn't use the full weight of their power when they had control of the house and senate. That being said, it's appalling that the Republican controlled House of Demagogues has voted to repeal Obamacare something like 50 times. What a waste of taxpayer money for something that won't get passed anyway.
I'm mostly making noise because I think people need to take a closer look at the candidates instead of anointing so early. I'm not sure Hillary would change much that matters to me on a personal level. I do appreciate the efforts to try and consolidate the party into a massive organized effort all moving in one direction. I'm just not sure now is the time.
Thanks again.

I like Bernie, but I do not think he'd actually be able to get as much done as Obama has or Hillary will. I'm sure that will piss off some Bernie folks on DU who hate Obama, but he'll be recognized for some huge progressive wins no matter how much they protest that fact.
I like our candidates overall. Webb and Chafee, meh, not so much.
But compared to the GOP, any of "us" is better than any if "them".
And I prefer fighting them, not us.
