As some people may know, Vermont is Obama's 2nd-best state in the country after Hawaii in terms of margin of victory from 2008.
Obama is currently ahead in Vermont by 37 points in today's Castleton State College poll - his best number of 2012 so far.
Obama = 62%
Romney = 25%

They are a race of pioneers who have almost beggared themselves to serve others. If the spirit of liberty should vanish in other parts of the Union, and support of our institutions should languish, it could all be replenished from the generous store held by the people of this brave little state of Vermont."

(4,167 posts)So different, I just don't get why it is such a battleground compared to Vermont and other New England states. People always talk about Florida in 2000, but if new hampshire voted more like the rest of the surrounding states, then we wouldn't have had Bush, two wars, and Roberts/Alito.
