2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThis is turning out to be the MOST AMUSING GOP convention of my lifetime.
Murdoch knew what he was talking about -- Mitt's crew are just not up to it. Usually I get pissed off at the inevitable race bating, hate-on-the-poor etc etc but they are so FAIL and so AWKWARD that it is frankly amusing the hell out of me.
Cannot stop giggling over the pre-etch-a-sketched Mitt book being swagged, Priebus looking like he was going to have a stroke trying to justify Mitt's failed berfer joke, Trump's "important contribution" being scrapped etc. etc.
Not to mention the delicious irony of The Climate Denier's Ball being disrupted by extreme weather.
The prospect of Ron Paul delegates or MO delegates or other teabaggers "going rogue?" Oh yum. Light butter, no salt please.
I really think this convention is going to end with a big bounce - FOR THE PRESIDENT!

(12,296 posts)... and if nothing else, I'd bet my boots that less than 40% of America wants the country run by a group of 4th graders.

(115,740 posts)when they try to decide who gets the lead role in the show.
"Hey, Mitt, I wanted to be Batman! How come you get the best part?"
"You can't be Batman, Ron, you're only in third grade. Batman can't be the shortest."
"If I can't be Batman I'm not going to be in your stoopid show. I'll put on my own play and it will be way better than yours."
And so forth...

(4,551 posts)It's hard to be totally amused or be able to enjoy all the rifts in the GOP when they've just passed the most conservative platform in their history and Romney/Ryan have a chance of winning.
I won't feel relaxed or amused until Obama is re-elected and I can look back on it then and enjoy it.
In the meantime I am cautiously optimistic, but nervous.

(954 posts)Things being on Easy Street for Obama.
However, we're seeing conservatives starting to jump ship and hedge on Romney. If there isn't a huge bump for him towards 50%, then it's going to become like 2008 again with a complete assault on his campaign from within the party.
Meanwhile, the President's approval rate went up to 50%.
