If this had happened before the republican debate, I don't think I would have been able to stomach their responses regarding this occurrence starting with Carson, who I'm sure would have advised the people in the theater to rush the shooter. . .

I wonder if there will be changes to the upcoming Climate Summit in Paris as well.

I don't think the event was cancelled, just the broadcast Al Gore was supposed to do from the Eifel Tower. I think the broadcast was supposed to be in advance of the Climate Summit to try to garner some attention for the summit itself (Nov 30 - Dec 11)
