2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHILLARY'S concern for WALL STREET during 9/11
Hillary: "I represented New York and I represented New York on 9/11 when we were attacked. Where were we attacked? We were attacked in downtown Manhattan where Wall Street is. I did spend a whole lot of time and effort helping them rebuild. That was good for New York. It was good for the economy, and it was a way to rebuke the terrorists who had attacked our country"
OMG this is the most lame thing Hillary has said ifor a long time. What about the victims that were killed in the Towers? I guess she was also worried that Wall Street buildings with their plush offices were damaged by the attacks?

(2,427 posts)It was ridiculous! Unbelievable and just about the worst response possible to the question. If she said, "Excuse me, I just farted a little" it would have been a better response.

Her lameness will put a republican in the presidents office and will give him broad coat tails. If we nominate HRC it will set back the Democratic party (and America) for a decade or several.

bettyellen
(47,209 posts)enormous economic impacts, I know three people who lost their small businesses. Tons of office workers were relocated to NJ. A huge section of NYC was a ghost town just long enough to kill off tons of businesses and force thousands of people into relocating out of the area. It was a much bigger thing for NYC than many people realize. The rest of the country was grabbing up the pork and buying fucking tanks and anti-terrorist shit they didn;t need. We got fucked. I guess that kept em all busy.

(47,209 posts)I'm kind of shocked to find out that people think this is weird. It was a very difficult period (of years) for NYC, not limited to but particularly people (of all strata) that worked in finance in any way. It's not always about the 1%. Take your blinders off, it's insulting.

(16,993 posts)I'm dismayed that 9/11 is used as a means to malign New York now just because Wall Street is the new BS chew toy.
I say that and don't even know who you support, but it's obvious that anyone and everything, including common sense, is to be tossed aside to support the BS narrative. Only BS can embrace 9/11 now, Clinton can't even respond to his smears without being smeared again. It is offensive.
bettyellen
(47,209 posts)is anyone (supporting Bernie) connecting the dots that they are also fucking underpaid, and not part of the 1%?
There seems to be an anti- NYC sentiment brewing. Maybe because we don't like guns? It kind of pisses me off because it was those gun owners across thew country beating the fucking war drums after 9/11, and not NYers. HRC did a great job for NYC when we were in dire straights, and it's amazing people can't even give her that. I feel like they have some idiot notion we are all millionaires here.

But then my stocks and condo weren't worth millions. I had a crappy little condo in the the poor town by the Boeing plant. My stocks were less than 20,000 but both together were to build a little nest egg so I wouldn't have to face retirement with just SS.
All gone. The condo never recovered it to the price I bought it for in 99. Still.
Yeah. I find her backers and the people she "protects" insulting.

It was not her finest moment. Invoking 9/11 should be left to Giuliani who just can't stop himself from blurting out '9/11' every time he's allowed near a microphone. He has profited greatly from that terrible tragedy.

It would be better to admit her close ties to Wall St and explain why she keeps those ties, what is her reasoning, how can she serve the people when their interests are so threatening to Wall St's. She still hasn't explained that and her diversion to 9/11 pretty much shocked a lot of people.
