President Obama Hands Republicans A Gift; Jewish, Palestinian Leaders Fume

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CBSNewYork) — A big flip flop by the Democratic Party has replaced what was perceived as a big snub to Israel.

It was a stunning development. The party had dropped the assertion that Jerusalem was the capital of the Jewish state, but on Wednesday evening the Democrats had a change of heart. The vote went down just before 6 p.m. and it was quite contentious on the floor. It needed a two-thirds majority and it took three votes to get it, CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer reported.

And even after the vote, many thought the crowd of delegates on the floor was split 50-50, rather than delivering the two-thirds majority needed.

The Democrats caved, changing the platform language to reflect that they now regard Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. It came about as a result of intense political pressure,” CBS 2’s Kramer reported.

They should have left well enough alone and left the platform as is. Didn't anyone trying to push this due to pressure listen to Deval's speech last night?

You have a republican candidate that has said openly that he does NOT agree with his party's platform, and it's like crickets... ****

Frankly, I don't see this as "caving" or "flip flopping" I see it as a Party that actually IS Democratic, like the name says. they realized that many in the Party were unhappy at the omission, and they took a VOTE. How utterly spineless, right? WRONG.

Unlike the Bullshit RNC platform that would horrify most of the true conservatives, the Democrats have a platform that the majority of Dems can support, and IS inclusive.

This is another bullshit story...

that there was a 2/3 voice vote. Just watch the video. Frankly, I don't care about the language. I do care about the absolutely BS way they rammed through the amendment without the consent of the delegates.

Wikipedia's entry on Isreal already tells me what the Capital is. And the source is the CIA World Factbook. So why do we need to say what the capital of any nation is? Are the Russians offended because we didn't say the capital of Russia is Moscow?

Seriously, this shit in the Middle East is fucked up and fucking stupid.
