attn: "Bernie Sanders is Declaring War on Walmart"

link; excerpt:

Sen. Bernie Sanders is no fan of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., and there are many reasons for that:

* The company doesn't provide benefits for most of its employees, and about $2.66 billion of taxpayer money goes to Wal-Mart employees in the form of food stamps and government healthcare each year.
* Wal-Mart lost a class-action lawsuit alleging wage theft by making employees work through unpaid breaks and meal times, among other things.
* Some have accused Wal-Mart of paying off foreign officials so they won't reveal the terrible conditions under which people labor in their overseas factories.

I enjoyed working there. I still have stocks from working. Not a perfect place but it does seem to bring negativity where other stores don't And some are even worse then Walmart. A friend of mine works for Joanne's fabric. Horrid place to work according to her.

Our Social Security should be funded so that it is enough for them to live on. If they want to work, fine, but most of the sad seniors I see (well, used to see - haven't been to a Walmart in years) don't want to have to work.

Why are so many on government assistance. I've read that part of new employee orientation has been known to include how to apply for food stamps.

While there are reliable stories of WalMart employees who are decently paid, and have worked their way up the rungs of the company, there are even more horror stories of inadequate hours and pay and so on.

It probably did in the past, and it may now, but in 2010 they didn't teach how to apply for food stamps - or even MENTION food stamps, except to the cashiers and they learned how to process a food stamp sale. They DID, however, teach you how to fill out a time sheet for "time worked off the clock"...if you did ANY work for the company when you weren't clocked in you were supposed to report it and get paid for it.

With the so called increase in Wally Wages,Floor Numbers cut, part time hours cut, next will be full timers hours cut by 2-4 hours per week after New Years. And it is only going to get worse as Their Stock Price drops.

Sun Dec 6, 2015, 06:03 PM

During those years, Clinton sat quietly as Walmart waged a war on workers trying to unionize and fight for basic rights on the job. This fealty to Walmart never wavered. During her three trips to India as secretary of state, she tried to convince the government to reverse its law aimed at keeping out big-box retailers.

Clinton’s newfound populism would be laughable if it weren’t for her actual record — decades’ worth of cruel attacks on workers and the poor. From support for welfare reform and tough-on-crime policies in the 1990s to shilling for US corporations abroad as secretary of state, Clinton has never strayed from the Democratic Party’s aim — protecting corporate America’s bottom line.

Twice in the past two or three years I've been dragged protesting into a Sam's Club, and not only they didn't have what the other person was looking for, but the few things I priced were more expensive that at my local Albertson's.

Another time, when planning to make spaghetti for about 150 for my local homeless shelter, a friend priced out the ingredients at Sam's. I bought everything for at least a third less at the same Albertson's.

I think too many people who shop at WalMart or Sam's never go into another store, and they don't understand that often they are paying more.

They make their new hires watch anti-union films. They pay their employees slave wages and generally treat them like shit. They don't schedule their employees full-time so they can avoid giving them benefits. They represent everything wrong with this country. They are EVIL!
