I have no idea and with the total lack of context I'm not sure the OP does either.

Clint talked about HALFTIME...at a point where a democratic president is running for reelection...in the context of an ad put out by a company which is only alive today because of the actions of this president. Perhaps playing 3 days for the Buffalo Bills resulted in one too many blows to the head, Ed. You should be on your knees thanking this man. Obama's status at halftime seems to be behind the eight ball (despite all the RWers' claims about "liberally-biased media", once the Repug candidate is set, the MSM will be taking every $$$ it/they get(s) and play the RW ads to the hilt) ... maybe Eastwood and Chrysler were saying "4 more years" without actually stating it?

Clint Eastwood’s Super Bowl Comercial Contradicting His Political Beliefs?
Uncategorized by Jordan Zakarin

Clint Eastwood is known for his libertarian views and support of the Republican party, so it was a surprise to see him narrate a Super Bowl ad holding up the revival of Chrysler and other Detroit auto makers as a model for a new American resurgence.

As recently as last year, Eastwood was criticizing President Obama's 2009 bailout of the auto industry, which set the stage for Chrysler's resurgence.

"I'm a big hawk on cutting the deficit," Eastwood told the Los Angeles Times in November. "I was against the stimulus thing too. We shouldn't be bailing out the banks and car companies. If a CEO can't figure out how to make his company profitable, then he shouldn't be the CEO."

In the commercial, called "It's Half Time in America," Eastwood points out that Americans are hurting, then adds: "The people of Detroit know something about this. They almost lost everything. But we all pulled together. Now Motor City is fighting again."

Commentators on both sides of the political divide were taken aback by Eastwood's apparent reversal.

"Agh. WTH? Did I just see Clint Eastwood fronting an auto bailout ad???" Michelle Malkin, the conservative columnist, tweeted during the game. Greg Mitchell, blogger for the liberal paper The Nation, also weighed in, tweeting, "Republican Clint Eastwood claims 'we all pulled together' to save Detroit--wrong, your party did not, big guy."

I see nothing wrong with his commercial. It certainly sparked interest as people put greater meaning on it than extended car commercial.

With Clint Eastwood's background of being usually a Republican, I thought this was a real coup for the Obama campaign.

13. In Ed's own words...
Mon Feb 6, 2012, 02:28 PM
Feb 2012

Not once, but twice in this ad, Clint Eastwood claims we came together to save the auto industry. But it seems Mr. conservative Carmel by the Sea Mayor Eastwood is forgetting there was one party that fought the loans to the automakers tooth and nail the whole way. Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Newt Gingrich, Richard Shelby, all encouraged by Fox News, all pushed to let Detroit go bankrupt.

Clint probably didn't write the copy for the commercial, but he did take money to appear in it. Perhaps there should be some truth in it too.

There was no coming together to save the auto industry. Progressives did it.

I can see nothing negative about that ad from our POV. We should be thanking Clint for doing it, even though he was clearly speaking as a paid spokesperson and not representing his own views (in fact, likely quite the contrary). The add is very effective and very pro-Democrat.

SO, what do you mean by "calling him out?"

He supports gay marriage - mind you, not even Obama has publicly endorsed gay marriage as of today.

He's pro-choice.

When he was mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea (yes, Eastwood has been elected to public office), he was very pro-environment and supported small businesses.

Eastwood has also supported Democrats from time to time.

Chrysler Group Chairman and CEO Sergio Marchionne told WJR radio in Detroit on Monday that Eastwood's words were his own, and that he is donating his fee to charity.

"He felt really deeply everything he said," Marchionne said. "There was not a single doubt in my mind when he spoke in the commercial that he was expressing his views."
