Please stop calling the R/R Medicare plan a voucher plan. Call it what it is: COUPONS.

Because that's all the vouchers are: coupons, plain and simple.

With these coupons, seniors will get a discount on the premiums they would pay to private insurers for whatever insurance they can manage to find.

The word "voucher" has connotations that promise more than this plan will deliver. The R/R plan doesn't vouch -- or stand behind -- any private insurer. All these vouchers will do is give some sort of discount (variable, depending on age and health status) off whatever prices the private insurers will decide to charge.

Older people understand COUPONS. They don't understand vouchers -- it's a nebulous word that could mean practically anything in this context.

Let's be smart about how we frame this and not let the Rethugs get away with pulling the wool over seniors' eyes. Would they vote for anyone promising to give seniors dollars-off coupons for medical care? Instead of the Medicare they've been relying on? No way in hell.

I've been thinking if the Democrats only had a "Frank Luntz" type on the payroll they would have already been pushing this!

"Voucher" is way too lofty for what it is. WOMEN especially understand coupons. While they may be glad to have them, they know they're talking about pennies on dollars. "Coupons" is definitely more descriptive In the context of health insurance.

If implemented would everyone eligible receive the cash up front without needing to apply for it or would it be more like a rebate offered by a company for a product? Rebates require sending in the paperwork required by the company and getting the money 1 or 2 months later. I'm sure there are many consumers that don't price difference because they don't send in the rebate form.

Kind of like S&H Green Stamps. 10 books and you can see the doctor. A little sarcasm, but not that far off.

ObamaCare vs. BettyCrockerCare.
