The Triumvirate of Adelson, Netenyahu, Romney - Citizens United's Impact On National Security

The mainstream media ignores the dangers inherent when a billionaire who is outspoken about his foreign policy views and is close personal friend of a foreign leader uses his influence and wealth to meddle with the security interests of both countries. Is Netenyahu's recent demands to meet with Obama regarding Iran shortly before the election designed to influence our election at home?

Adelson has even greater influence in Israel where he is like Rupert Murdoch on steroids given his close personal relationship to Netenyahu and ownership of Israeli rightwing media outlets. Yet, his role and influence in Israel is largely ignored despite his willingness to spend tens of millions of dollars to control the U.S. election.

The other distinguishing characteristic of Adelson is the strength of his affinity to a foreign government — not just to a foreign country but to the policies of the current government of that country. It is appropriate that Adelson will be one of the greeters when Romney arrives in Israel because, although Adelson is a U.S. citizen, his declared primary allegiance is to Israel.

Adelson once commented that when he did military service as a young man it “unfortunately” was in a U.S. uniform rather than an Israeli one and that all he and his Israeli wife “care about is being good Zionists, being good citizens of Israel, because even though I am not Israeli born, Israel is in my heart.”

Adelson is using his fortune to push a political agenda in Israel as well as in the United States. One way he has done that is by establishing five years ago a free-distribution newspaper, Israel Hayom, which has become the highest-circulation daily in Israel. The paper follows a firmly rightist, pro-Netanyahu line. As a business the newspaper is a money loser, but Adelson cheerfully has indicated his willingness to continue losing money on the paper (not a significant loss, in comparison with his fortune) to get its message across.

Israel already has a government to Adelson’s liking, and he is using his money to sustain public support for it. In the United States, it is a matter of still trying to buy a government to his liking. His current hoped-for vehicle for doing that — Mitt Romney — has to date left his foreign policy largely a blank beyond slogans and the most general of themes.

campaigning giving speeches, being hugged by pizza guys etc, that he doesn't have as much time to speak with dignitaries.

2. Not This Time - The News Reports Are Attributing the Lack Of A Meeting

...To Bebi's efforts to grand stand and posture at the last public meeting as he lectured Obama in front of the cameras on the need to invade Iran. Netenyahu is tight with Adelson and Adelson is spending millions on Romney. Why walk into a Romney commercial waiting to happen?

I don't disagree that Citizens United requires candidates to campaign and fundraise more. But, what is ignored is the ability of a billionaire to push a very specific agenda even an agenda that has a direct impact on U.S. national security such as promoting a conflict between the U.S. and Iran.

4. And Romney has given signals he will use the US military to fight wars for Mr. Bibbles

Mr. Bibbles wants to kill a shitload of Iranians, and while I don't think he gives a damn how many Israelis he has to kill to get that done, he'd probably still rather let us do the lifting for him.

A vote for Romney is a vote for letting one of our client states embroil us in a new south Asian land war.
