Republicans For Bernie Sanders

I don't use Facebook, and my sister (who is no doubt still sleeping as I write this) didn't provide a link. Perhaps someone here on DU who uses Facebook can find this page and add the link.

Anyway, here's what my sister wrote in the email, along with the images she shared ...

I stumbled across this page on Facebook, and read a bunch of the posts. They're serious, they're smart and they're really pushing people to vote for Bernie, and telling them by what date they have to resign from the Republican Party in order to vote for him in states with a closed primary. We may be able to get through to some of our Republican friends/family members with the smart arguments on that FB page!

Here are some of the memes I saw:

And he got their votes by being honest, not by pandering to bigots. Hillary supporters claim Bernie is selling us out to Trump's racist fans in order to get their votes but they're full of it.

The latest poutrage about Bernie reaching across the aisle is amusing at best and staggeringly hypocritical at worst considering Hillary's 2008 campaign.

Bernie's message is consistent. If that message appeals to new voters and draws them to the left then that's a good thing. Otoh, the Third Wayers have continuously chased voters to the right taking the Dem Party with them.

though I'm also a bit skeptical, it wasn't that long ago that there were right wing pundits encouraging their audiences to vote Bernie to stymie hillary, and....though I'd like to believe this is sincere sensibility on the issues and bridge building, and I'll certainly try and keep an open mind, forgive me if I don't turn handsprings of unity celebration juuuuuust yet.

On edit, to clarify....
Given I believe Bernies chances in the GE are superior to Hillarys...I'm not sure I CARE if it's sincere or not, if I can get a racist to march for someone that will work their hardest to destroy the racism and classism that divides us? Forward fucking march, there, soldier.

the Republicans that we most hear about are the crazies. The sane repubs stay out of the limelight, keep their heads down and continue on with life. I'm not even sure any one knows what the repub party stands for. And, if we are really looking at parties, I'm not sure what the dem party stands for any more either.

I do know that my ex-in-laws in the mid 90's quit the repub party (they were big donors) because of religion creeping into the party. There views on things were your typical Reagan talking points, but the Christianity thing REALLY bothered them, and they donated a pipe organ to a church, so they weren't anti-Christian.

I can see a number of middle of the road repubs voting for Bernie, especially since he is not the establishment.

I want to know why the sane Republicans aren't taking their party back from the crazies. If the Democratic Party is maintaining an iron grip on its nominating process despite that 'Democratic unity' is an oxymoron, why can't the march-in-lockstep Republican Party take some control over their nominating process? If there's any sanity there, where in hell is it?

And we can't afford Democratic defections in those states. And of course there's the Independents.

On top of that we need a great voter turnout. All the disaffected, and the young, new, voters need to turn out so we can credibly claim to have some kind of a mandate.

All the districts that can go either way need a galvanizing candidate leading our ticket.
