2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSo the Supreme Chancellor and her supporters keep saying "May the Force be With You..."
As she aligns herself with the influences of established wealth and power.
We all know she wants to be Galactic Emperor.

(10,345 posts)Because if you want to throw out Star Wars lines like you're a cool kid, then you should probably step up like a cool kid.
Which hand of Luke's was cut off by whom?
What are Ewoks and Jawa's?
Who built C-3P0?
Why didn't R2-D2 use his flying ability in episodes 4, 5, and 6 where it would have been helpful?
Google away. lol
I'm just saying, if your campaign is going to start adopting pop culture references so you can all seem relevant and hip, you better carry the real deal along with you. Otherwise, it seems totally out of touch. "Look kids! Hillary said Star Wars things! She's hip!"

Mail Message
On Tue Jan 5, 2016, 10:31 AM an alert was sent on the following post:
So the Supreme Chancellor and her supporters keep saying "May the Force be With You..."
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251974872
REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
This kind of divisive flamebait and name calling has no place on DU. Talking about issues and constructive criticism are one thing. This ain't that by a long shot. Not good community standards.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Tue Jan 5, 2016, 10:38 AM, and the Jury voted 0-7 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I find this post to be a clever and creative way to express the thought the candidate may not be exactly who she says she is. None of us are. I say keep the post.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Its a fairly inoffensive joke in a humor thread. Please. Enough with the goofy nonsense alerts. If it makes you feel better, re-post it with the gender pronouns reversed. If it gets alerted, I'll side with you.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Primary season
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Just minutes ago, I saw a post hidden that had relevant information on a candidate. It was a compilation of clips that showed how the candidate was using tired and outdated soundbites from the Bush Administration. Very relevant and discussion worthy. The fact that this alert comes just minutes after the jury ruled on that post tells me that someone is trying to do some damage control for the candidate of their choice and alerting on negative postings in an attempt to change the discussion on DU.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No idea what the poster is saying but leave it.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(9,527 posts)You're left with nothing to offer but lame insults. Yes, Clinton is just like Emperor Palpatine. Hilarious witty repartee. I'd have no problems voting for any of the three candidates, and while Clinton has some obnoxious supporters, it's only among a subset of the Sanders supporters that I see this need to frame the world as good (Sanders) and evil (everybody else).
I'll give you another bit of advice from Star Wars as an example of why you maybe shouldn't take your world view from poorly acted movies. Only Sith deal in absolutes.
Quit trying to frame everybody who isn't Sanders as evil. It's especially silly when the one you're claiming is evil voted the same as Sanders in the Senate 93% of the time. So either the difference between good and evil is 7%, or Sanders is 93% evil if we take your binary limited world view.

(18,133 posts)What truly bothers me about Hillary ' s campaign is the Madison Avenue branding. The attempts to co-opt and co-brand rather than getting at the real issues are much of what's wrong with politics.
No doubt hillary is a more palatable alternative that is offered by the gop, but senator sanders is rare breed of politician that we have not had the opportunity to elect in more than a generation.
And on some levels, I'm sorry to say, and you're free to disagree, I do believe that hillary is aligned with powers that are detrimental to ordinary Americans and other people of the world.
So take from it what you will - and may the forces of true human goodness be with you.
