Hillary Clinton is 'tapping into star power'

The Clinton campaign has always had a long list of celebrity backers, but the campaign is really putting them to use as voting in Iowa and New Hampshire approaches.

Lena Dunham, Tony Goldwyn and Jamie Lee Curtis, as well as Olympic soccer player Abby Wambach, will all be campaigning for Clinton in Iowa and/or New Hampshire this month, the idea being that if Clinton herself can’t be in the state, at least another famous face will be on her behalf.

I wish that Bernie Sanders were using surrogates in IA and NH. He has famous supporters, too:

Also, Jane Sanders should do solo events.

the whole corrupt system. To the extent that American voters care about celebrity, we are a precarious democracy; but they do, so that's the game being played.

I hope people will start to understand that Bernie's reticence to act the part of a media star is leading us all to a better way to do the "government" part of our common life together.

The Clinton campaign said it was also using the events to collect names, addresses and “caucus commitments” as it looks to boost turnout on Feb. 1.

I wish that a celebrity were doing solo events for Bernie Sanders.
