Excerpt:
Hillary Clinton has been a national leader on gun violence prevention for decades. More than any candidate on either side of the aisle, she has the experience, record, and demonstrated commitment to help reach the Brady Campaigns goal of cutting gun deaths in half by 2025, Brady Campaign President Dan Gross, who is set to appear with Clinton on Tuesday, said in a statement.
"She was with us when we passed the Brady Bill in 1993, she took on the corporate gun lobby by fighting the truly evil Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, and now shes made gun violence prevention a centerpiece of her campaign, supporting a policy thats already saved lives in Iowa expanded Brady background checks on gun sales," he said.
Clintons campaign has noted that Sanders voted against the Brady Bill five times in pointing to his record on gun control, and has criticized the insurgent candidate more recently for his 2005 vote to limit liability for gun manufacturers and dealers legislation Gross called "truly evil."

(99,710 posts)Since I started this thread I will answer your question when you answer mine or in the alternative we are at an impasse where it seems meaningful and civil conversation becomes impossible.
Thank you in advance.

P.S. In the spirit of comity please see Post #10. Thank you in advance.

P.S. But please keep trying to get me to alter my response. Respectfully, the chances of me altering it are somewhere between Slim and None and Slim is out of town.

(99,710 posts)Could you please inform Ms. Karlson it doesn't have members in the sense the term is commonly understood. It has an executive staff and uses the money it raises to curb gun violence.
Thank you in advance.

(36,926 posts)For some, no matter how noble the cause, e.g. PP, Brady Campaign, it is evil incarnate if not a Bernie supporter. How sad is that?

This is what you wrote:
"I am proud to stand with the Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence and Hillary Clinton"
It sounds like he is proud to prevent Hillary Clinton. I think the correct statement would be, "I am proud to stand with Hillary Clinton and prevent gun violence."

(15,438 posts)When the Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence needed Sanders' vote, he balked and refused to give them support FIVE TIMES.
From PolitiFact:
The Senate decreased the waiting period to five days and the bill returned to the House. In Nov. 1991, Sanders voted against that version. Though it passed in the House, the Senate didnt muster enough votes. The Brady bill and its gun control stance remained in limbo during 1992.
After some back and forth, a version of the bill resurfaced that reinstated the five day waiting period. In November 1993, Sanders voted against that version but for an amendment imposing an instant background check instead (seen by some as pointless, as the technology for instant checks didnt exist at the time).
He also voted against an amendment that would have ended state waiting periods, and for an amendment giving those denied a gun the right to know why.
The final compromise version of the Brady bill -- an interim five-day waiting period while installing an instant background check system -- was passed and signed into law on Nov. 30, 1993. Sanders voted against it.
So now they won't be there for him. Poetic justice!

Preventing her from what? From preventing the gentleman who voted against five iterations of the Brady Bill from becoming our nominee?
Thank you in advance.
