to describe the calculations a voter has to make when entering the ballot box when the choice is between a draconian Republican and an imperfect Democrat.

Which one will provide more progress?

Has nothing to do with Primary voting where we get to choose which person represents Dems in the general.

None of our Dem primary candidates are 'evil' despite the hyperbolic spewing of a handful of DU'ers attempting to demonize them.

When was the last time it was good vs evil and good won?

1944? 1940?

Even in '44, because of what the party did to Wallace, good didn't prevail.

I also think painting things in black and white terms limits your ability to decide what the best option or least bad option is.

While Bernie would be better than Hillary Clinton (in my opinion), Hillary Clinton would be better than Bush or Trump by quite a bit.

Proponents believe that liberal and progressive policies cannot win, and therefore we shouldn't try. They mistakenly believe that they are 'being pragmatic' and 'living in the real world,' when in reality they are propagating a meme designed to make sure the oligarchs win regardless of which Party is elected.

The time for timidity and second-guessing has long passed. Liberals and progressives need to be BOLD, and act like the majority of America agrees with us - BECAUSE THEY DO. Our system of government has been co-opted by moneyed interests, and they are certainly making it difficult for us, but we must rise to the challenge and not settle for the path of least resistance.

As Bruce Cockburn wrote:

Let's start kicking.

Voting for the candidate that is not your first choice is not a vote for the lesser of two evils. It's a vote for the greater good. It's when a person is willing to say, yes, I don't like this candidate and I might even feel like I am compromising my ideological purity by voting for him/her, but for the sake of others, who will suffer far more if the other side wins, I will vote for this candidate anyway.

If Clinton is evil what does it say that Sanders voted the same as Clinton did 93% of their shared time in the Senate?

This view that Sanders is somehow so pure and virtuous that everybody else is evil is a scary thing to me. It lacks any sense of reasonableness or basis in objective reality.

Because "divide and conquer" has always been a valid strategy to defeat those who oppose you. It can make the less-informed believe that the good & honorable people opposing Evil are "the lesser of two".

Sound familiar?

We don't have a word that adequately describes how horrific those fuckers are.

Equating anyone on our side with those maniacs demonstrates a real lack of understanding of what evil actually is.
