1. Yup, Might as well make a prison and stay in it.

Because women should wear prison jumpsuits, preferably burkas, never attend parties, never go out after dark, never go out before dark, never be alone with a friend, never be alone with a family member, never be alone, never be with someone, never drink alcohol, never drink anything else in the presence of anyone in case it's spiked, never drive anywhere alone, never drive anywhere with someone...

In fact, women should just cease existing altogether - to avoid rape.

....And NEVER, NEVER, must we ever say anything about trying to stop rapists from raping, since 90+% of them are men, and saying anything about how men might restrict their movements to prevent rape is totally forbidden and should you break that rule, you deserve to be raped.

(Do I need the sarcasm tag? for the sarcasm-impaired idiots among us.)

about a yr ago. you all remember?

what started was putting out that MEN needed to be addressed. SOME men on du up in arms. you you you are saying all men are rapists.

then we started having our rape week.

then they are telling us it is our job not to get raped

then they are telling us their feelers were hurt when a woman took any of the actions suggested to her for avoiding her rape.

it was a fuggin' mess.

good video.

"Be very careful going onto an elevator alone with an unknown man."

"I was waiting for an elevator and there was a man on it I didn't know so I skipped that one and got another.'

"That's so rude! How do you think that made him feel? How dare you treat all men like potential rapists!"

Or was it a parking garage?

"Be careful in isolated places like parking garages."

"I was in a parking garage and saw a man I didn't know so I circled around to avoid him."

"That's so rude! How do you think that made him feel? How dare you treat all men like potential rapists!"

Talk about mixed messages! If we don't follow this advice it's our fault we got raped, but if we do follow this advice we're evil angry women who hate all men.

5. exactly. the elevator was a woman at 4 am in alone with a man. he asked her back to HIS room

for coffee. a stranger. asking a stranger. back to his room. alone, in an elevator. at 4 am.

she was not "polite" enough. you know. men have it tough having to be the one approaching the woman. give them a fuggin' break.

at 4 in the morning, alone, in an elevator, basically asking a strange woman if she wants sex.

"Who goes to a strange man's room without knowing what he wants? Of course she wanted it or she wouldn't have gone."

And if she'd said no but was very polite, "Well you can't give mixed messages like that and expect men to understand. How was he supposed to know she didn't want it?"

Teaching us to be polite is teaching us to be easily controlled IMO.

very young women that said sometimes they said no, but really wanted sex.

too hard being a man.

give them a fuggin' break.

you know. with my boys, when we discuss anything, be it complicated and complex or the simplist of issues, reason has GOT to be a part of it. we would all roll our eyes at all this. yet..... men state it and want to be taken seriesly!!11!!!1

9. That, my dear sea, was Rebecca Watson

She had just spent the evening talking about misogyny and women at skeptic conferences, and during an after-speech bar discussion even said several times that she personally wasn't interested in being picked up - to an audience in which that man was a member - and then, when she off-handedly mentions in a video that asking a woman up to your room, at 4.a.m, while alone with her in an elevator, after she has said several times to you that she's not interested in being hit on, isn't something you should do - she gets death threats and rape threats, and prominent male skeptics saying that that is such a first-world problem...

I'm pretty sure she's still getting rape and death threats for that.

On his way home from the bus stop at twilight, a woman crossed to the other side of the street His immediate thought was "Good lord! I'm not that type of guy." I explained to him how that common precaution saves women's lives--how was she to know what kind of a guy he was?
