I am at a bar on the strip and let me tell you...

Not only is chivalry dead. It never lived.

Fuck sexual violence.

To preface this entire thing: I spoke to a friend who is a bartender who made it explicit that the women who "prepare" for these kind of holidays "denigrate" themselves. The only kind of justification is the pay. And to justify this kind of humiliation with pay is disturbing. It's wrong.

And it is a shame, an absolute shame that all of this has been in the name of some ridiculous holiday.

This is ridiculous. No one should have to deal with the kind of sexual harassment dealt women tonight. It's unacceptable. Absolutely, unacceptable.

Nothing else to it really. Maybe I came off condescending, in which case I apologize.

Are you talking about prostitutes or strippers? Is that what you mean by pay? What then is the holiday?

They should just strap on their job helmets and squeeze down into a job cannon and fire off into job land, where jobs grow on little jobbies.

Which pays well but is humiliating. And even after asking my friends if they felt the job paid well they said that ultimately it was simply "denigrating," regardless of the pay.

And the worst part is the kind of interaction after the "party" with men just screaming at women as if they're property (the police ignore it.) It boggles the mind.

How do we live in a society where women are treated so poorly?
